about this journal
This journal was kept by Lauren Kent while participating in the NYLine, an organized charity line-a-thon at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Over the eighteen days of the line, its 240 staff and participants raised over $18,500 for the Starlight Children's Foundation through the generous donations of friends, family, and passersby at the line site.
about the author
Lauren is a 20 year old junior at NYU. She was present for 230 hours during fifteen of the line's eighteen days (and was so sick she couldn't leave home the other three), earning 735 points, the fifth-highest total at the end of the line.

Twenty-four hours away from the line. Real life. Scary!
Fifteen people here right now. The canopy's been moved about twenty feet toward 6th Ave because of the Unfaithful premiere, which just happens to be taking place at the Zieg tonight. I don't have my camera, which might end up sucking if there are lots of closeted Star Wars fans about. But Matt's here, so it should be okay.
A NY1 van is driving by, which makes me realize that my national media debut may happen tonight. ;) Shoulda set the VCR for E!. ;) I wonder if the Zieg will let us into the bathroom during the premiere? Would be sorta funny to take a piss next to, um, someone.
It's kind of crazy to reconcile the premiere setup at the Zieg with what shows up in pictures. Lots of red carpet (cheap shit!) and a big vinyl backdrop with "Unfaithful" printed all across it. The theatre seems a hell of a lot fancier today than it did a day ago.
I think Spell's updating the site, which is good, since that hasn't happened in several days.
Am highly, deeply amused by this whole situation.
Only on the line.

Dude, all the shmucks lined up for Fatal Attraction Part 2 are so getting the stereotypical Star Wars fan experience. At the moment we're discussing Vader's shadow in TPM, the LOTR DVD sets, various Lucas gossip.
[Crazy] Dave is here (joy) and Juan won't shut up. But Suzanne just got here, so it now could be worse.

Among the celebrities who've stopped in to visit:
Richard Gere
Diane Lane
Hilary Swank
Um, that's about all I recognized. Jamey kept yelling at the people walking past, and by the end a lot of the photographers were cracking up. Suzanne thought she saw Ahmed Best on the line to get in; it wasn't him, but we didn't realize that until after Matt shoved a camera in his face. The BBC is here now, and when they arrived, Suzanne asked if they'd signed up for this shift. It's just a banner day for Suzanne.
[Cute vegan] Mark, [Vassar] Jason, and I were mercilessly making fun of [crazy] Dave a little while ago - good times. O:) I've gotta wonder how the guys who actually talk to Dave put up with him.
And that was me getting interviewed by the BBC on the Amidala chair. Now Juan's waving a QGJ lightsaber for the camera dude. My parents are gonna see this and laugh their asses off at their geeked-out wannabe Valley girl.

[Crazy] Dave left. So did [cute vegan] Mark. I guess you can't win them all.
The movie's letting out now - 1000 rich people scoffing at us again. Amit's pitching Starlight, but they're all too worried about having their stilettos fall through the grate to stop and drop some change for us.
Um, I think I had something real to say before, but I've forgotten. Oh well.

"We're raising money for old rich guys?"
