about this journal
This journal was kept by Lauren Kent while participating in the NYLine, an organized charity line-a-thon at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Over the eighteen days of the line, its 240 staff and participants raised over $18,500 for the Starlight Children's Foundation through the generous donations of friends, family, and passersby at the line site.
about the author
Lauren is a 20 year old junior at NYU. She was present for 230 hours during fifteen of the line's eighteen days (and was so sick she couldn't leave home the other three), earning 735 points, the fifth-highest total at the end of the line.

Zieg
Well, I'm back on the line. Not the NYLine - this line. The actual tickets line. I'm forty-fifth, which I suppose still gives me a good chance at scoring Cat's 12.01 ticket (I hope); the Zieg had better take credit cards (they did in '99, Amit said), or else my savings account with be $110 poorer come about 10.30 this morning.
It's embarrassingly good to be back on these blocks of concrete, after having been out of commission for three days. I'm pissed, because I missed out on easily fifty points while battling my cold - of course, I'm still not really better, but the combination of Paige's family and the lure of tickets has driven me back outside. Amit's here today, as are [Yoda] Dave, Steve, and a bunch of guys I recognize but can't name. The canopy is still up, so I've stationed myself beneath it. Both tarps are up now (one east, one north), and the sound of the flapping tarps (along with the blue cast to the light) is strangely comforting.
Apparently we're allowed to jump out of this line for an hour or two, so I guess I'll run home sometime in the morning to grab more yarn and double-check the showtimes Will and Sam wanted.
It's actually nice tonight. Breezy, but not freezing, for once.
I should write Kairi-chan's break-up story tonight. That'd rock.
This is actually happening.

Spectating on Epic Duels and knitting. Will learn this game simply because it's so fucking fanboy-y.

This is illegally fun. :) We've got an Oceanside volunteer fireman hanging out with the line hardcores. Cool kid. Vic keeps threatening the journal. Eep! ;)

Steve says Matt overheard/was told a spoiler in AOTC regarding why some Jedi don't disappear.
HUH?
My ass is spoiled - why haven't I noticed?

Moviefone (the phone, not the website) already put Zieg tickets on sale. That in itself makes my cell phone worth the money. So Cat's midnight ticket, 2 3.30ams, Alan's Thursday noon, and my Thursday 10.30pm are in the bag. Moviefone sold out of primetime tickets before I could order those, but Vic's gonna order them for me with my cash - his pick is twenty-six ahead of mine.
On the one hand, I'm overjoyed that the Zieg did this, because it means I didn't get disadvantaged by my line spot; but all the same, it would've been much more fulfilling to stand at the ticket window and feel them in my palm, even if it meant that Cat came to the UA on Saturday to see AOTC in the city.
The morning line denizens are starting to trickle in, as are the businessmen. The sun was coming up as a few of the line scored their goods, the sky lightening slowly as the realization dawns. I can't do it justice - I love the sunrise.
The sky is perfectly clear, pristine, the only clouds the exhaust of towering buildings preparing to bear their weight for the day.
On to interperonsal matters - Amit is really adorable when he's asleep. Vic is definitely cooler than he gets credit for being, and there's a North Carolinian guy (with girlfriend and apparently without name) who's seriously cute. I'm the only girl under the canopy. I love science fiction. ;)

So... we're in line, right outside the box office. Wondering how strange this must look to all the non-NYLine people - a normal-looking chick with her Starbucks writing in a fucking journal? Haha.
Sounds like Thursday and Friday nights were bought completely by someone, which I guess means I'll hafta haul ass to the AMC to get the set of four for Friday.
I had the overwhelming joy of scaring the suits in Starbucks when I stopped for chai and bathroom - in retrospect, my crown of red frizz might've been a little bit out of place, but nothing to warrant the looks I got. Haha.
I don't even know why I'm in line, since Vic is buying whatever he can get for me. Suppose I might as well at this point in time, since I've been here for 8.5 hours. I just wish this FUCKING WIND would go away. Urgh.

And this, without my physically handing cash to a box office agent.

The traditional scuffle with urban punks. Theatre security fucks up, Viktor gets pissed, and next thing you know, fifteen kids are drowning out their shit music shouting gods-know-what at us.
Whatever. We're the ones with midnight tickets. Losers.
I'm running home to 1) grab yarn, and 2) stash my tickets somewhere safe. Not quite sure where that would be, given the current state of my room. I think I might also call Alan to let him know what I got.
The Killing Jar Jar guys said their play started as one guy's line journal. Cool.

I'm here again?
Creepy guy and Wendy are both here tonight, which means tonight could be excruciating. So far, so good, though, and I'm hoping to actually sleep tonight.
I'm surprised I'm not more pissed at the fact that Paige's entire family is at our apartment. I mean, I'm sleeping on the street for three days so her brother can take my bed, and I'm not angry? I'm cold and tired - just not pissy.
Wow, and I guess I have nothing else to say.
Except that a dude just snuck up behind the circle, saluted us, and left. Right.
